Textiles
I have recently got into textiles, after visiting New Zealand on my retirement in a camper van with my husband, Tony. I became fascinated by quilting and on my return undertook some classes with Trish at the Patchwork Garden, Sheffield. I have now made several quilts for friends and family and find this work to be satisfying and therapeutic.
The below piece was undertaken on a course with Ingrid Karlsson Kemp at her studio in Derbyshire. This piece is purely fabrics with a quilting base. This is an unusual move towards a more abstract piece of work which reminded me of my formative years in the 1960’s, hence ‘Strawberry fields forever’, another Beatles link.
I’ve always loved poppies, probably because every house I’ve lived in has had them in the garden! I love their vibrancy and form, as well as their significance within our culture.
Gorgeous work Mo!Especially love your textiles.
