Acrylics
I enjoy using acrylics more than any other medium. The paint allows texture and loading whilst still drying quickly, letting the painter continue with other layers or detail.
Acrylics lend themselves to landscapes, still life and all other subjects. Indeed I have recently done a portrait in acrylics for a friend. I often add other media to my paintings. In the one below I added rock salt to give extra texture and some pieces of insulation material Tony used in the cottage when we moved here. It takes paint easily and helped to focus the old stone wall and rocks as extra texture.
I was particularly pleased with an acrylics I completed last winter of the pond behind our cottage. It’s often snowy around Sheffield during the winter so painting inside is a great way to keep warm!
